Who we are
At Pay It Forward, we are dedicated to restoring the Indian River Lagoon, one of Florida’s most vital and fragile ecosystems. Through hands-on conservation efforts, habitat restoration, and community outreach, we work to protect the lagoon for future generations while also supporting children in need. Our mission extends beyond the environment—we believe in creating opportunities for families to connect with nature, learn, and thrive. As a self-funded and community-driven organization, we rely on passion and generosity rather than outside funding, allowing us to stay true to our goals. We also prioritize fair wages, ensuring our employees receive a higher, livable income because taking care of the planet starts with taking care of people.
Our restoration efforts focus on reintroducing native mangroves, grasses, and plants to create natural buffer zones that filter stormwater and reduce pollution. We build coquina rock walls, which provide the perfect structure for oysters to thrive, further helping to filter and clean the water. Additionally, we collaborate with local organizations, including the zoo, to support wildlife conservation and rehabilitation efforts.
Looking ahead, we are working toward launching educational boat tours designed for children, veterans, and families. These tours will give participants the opportunity to experience the water firsthand, fostering a deeper appreciation for the lagoon and its importance to our environment. Through action, education, and a commitment to paying it forward, we are working to restore the beauty and health of the Indian River Lagoon—one step at a time.
